In 2019, I joined Port Said Engineering Day (PSED), the largest annual engineering event in the Canal region, organized by more than 100 volunteers across 7 teams. With over 3,000 attendees, the event connects academia with the professional market through competitions, talks, and networking opportunities.
I started out as a graphics volunteer, exploring how large-scale events are organized while contributing to social media campaigns, posters, and invitations. That first year gave me the chance to learn, collaborate, and understand the impact of design in a live, professional context.
In 2020 the event was paused for safety because of COVID-19, giving the team time to rethink and prepare for a stronger return.
When PSED came back in 2021, I was promoted to Head of the Graphics Team: I planned and scheduled tasks, set timelines, created the main visuals and opening ceremony video, cooperated with six other teams, and reviewed my team’s work to ensure maximum impact.
After graduating in 2023, I transitioned into a mentor role for the Graphics Team, guiding new members, helping them connect, and reviewing their progress from time to time.
This experience has not only allowed me to give back, but also taught me the value of leadership, collaboration, and continuity. Mentoring others sharpened my ability to communicate clearly, inspire confidence, and ensure that a team’s creative output aligns with the bigger vision.
